FranceConnect and FranceConnect+ are two French government services that let you sign in to various online public services using a verified digital identity.
They share a common goal: making access to public services simpler and more secure. However, they don’t necessarily give access to the same procedures, and they don’t require the same level of identity verification.
What is FranceConnect?
FranceConnect lets you use a verified digital identity to sign in to many online public services, without creating and remembering a login and password for each one.
FranceConnect notably provides access to services such as:
- taxes
- family benefits (CAF)
- health insurance (Ameli)
- many other government services
Today, FranceConnect provides access to around 1,500 French government services.
To use FranceConnect with TrustMe, you notably need a social security number, along with an ID card or passport compatible with FranceConnect.
Once your identity is verified in TrustMe, your digital identity can be used to sign in to FranceConnect and access compatible services.
What is FranceConnect+?
FranceConnect+ is a version of FranceConnect intended for certain administrative processes that require a higher level of identity verification.
It notably provides access to services requiring an additional level of security. For example, FranceConnect+ can be used for certain processes related to:
- the personal training account (CPF)
- the INPI (French intellectual property office)
- MaPrimeRénov’ (home renovation grant)
FranceConnect+ relies on digital identity solutions that meet its security requirements, such as L’Identité Numérique La Poste or France Identité. These solutions provide a digital identity with a higher level of verification than what’s needed to use FranceConnect.
What’s the main difference between FranceConnect and FranceConnect+?
The main difference lies in the level of identity verification required and the processes this level of security gives access to.
FranceConnect provides access to a very large number of public services with a verified identity.
FranceConnect+ is intended for certain administrative processes requiring an additional level of security and a digital identity meeting higher requirements.
This doesn’t mean you need two different accounts for the same services. The choice between FranceConnect and FranceConnect+ depends on which government service you want to access and the level of verification it requires.
Does TrustMe work with FranceConnect?
Yes.
TrustMe is currently connected to FranceConnect. Once your identity is verified in TrustMe, you can use your digital identity to sign in to FranceConnect and access compatible services. This helps you avoid juggling multiple accounts and passwords for different public services.
Does TrustMe work with FranceConnect+?
For now, TrustMe is not compatible with FranceConnect+. If a service requires signing in via FranceConnect+, you’ll need to use another digital identity solution compatible with that service.
We’re currently working to develop TrustMe so that, over time, it can provide access to an ever-growing number of services and partners.
No date for FranceConnect+ compatibility has been announced yet. We’ll keep you informed once this feature becomes available.
