My first or last name doesn't match my ID document

When creating your TrustMe account, the information you enter must exactly match what appears on your ID document.

If a difference is detected between the information you entered and what’s on your document, your identity verification may be rejected.

Why does the information need to be identical?

TrustMe verifies your identity based on the information shown on your official document.

To guarantee the reliability of this verification and protect your identity, the information entered when creating your account must match what’s on your document.

We cannot modify or interpret the information shown on an official document.

What happens if my first or last name is different?

During verification, the information you entered is compared with what’s shown on your ID document.

Two situations can occur:

A minor difference is detected

If the difference is very small (up to two characters), your file may be sent to a reviewer for an additional check.

This check confirms that it is indeed the same person.

A significant difference is detected

If the difference is more than two characters, your identity verification will be rejected.

You’ll then need to restart your verification with information matching your ID document.

I made a typo when signing up

A simple typing error can cause your verification to be rejected.

If the difference is very minor, your file may be reviewed manually.

However, if several characters are different, your verification may be rejected.

Always take the time to double-check the information entered before confirming your sign-up.

Can I change my first or last name?

No.

For security reasons, neither you nor TrustMe support can change your first or last name on your account.

The information used by TrustMe comes solely from your official ID document.

I changed my name after marriage, divorce, or another administrative process

If your identity has changed, you must first complete the necessary procedures with the administration or country that issued your ID document.

Once you’ve obtained your new document, you’ll be able to replace your ID document in your TrustMe account.

We cannot change identity information unless it appears on an official document.

Do I need to enter all of my first names?

Yes.

When signing up, you need to enter your first name exactly as it appears on your ID document.

We recommend copying the information on your document exactly to avoid any rejection during verification.

Best practices

Before starting your identity verification:

  • copy your first and last name exactly as they appear on your document
  • don’t change the spelling, accents, or characters shown on your document
  • carefully review the information before confirming your sign-up.

These few checks help avoid most rejections related to identity information.
